Question 1

This actor was Oscar-nominated just once and won just that one time, too (in 1985). His film career was long, distinguished and varied - on "The Golden Girls" he only showed up in one episode in 1990. His character there came bearing both a complicated past and a very peculiar surprise. Rose didn't know whether to hug him or kill him after he spilled the beans! In true 'Rose' fashion she didn't quite do either; he was a man of the cloth, after all. Who was the veteran actor that rattled a few nerves on that particular episode?

Accepted Answer

Don Ameche

Question 2

After "The Golden Girls" series ended the remaining ladies set off into a new show, taking ownership of a Florida hotel which was called "The Golden Palace". The show, while not awful, didn't last but for one season - with just one of them not in it (Dorothy/Bea Arthur) the chemistry was not familiar anymore or as charming as before. The manager of the hotel, though, was played by a fellow who would go on to an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in 2004 (he didn't win). Who was this young thespian on his way to the bright lights of Hollywood?

Accepted Answer

Don Cheadle

Question 3

This Oscar-winning actress appeared on "The Golden Girls" just once - the hope being that the episode would be so popular that she and her TV family would spin off into their own series. That didn't happen. Might it have been that TV brother of hers there with the split personalities? Or maybe that her TV husband was a work-obsessed buffoon? It matters not. She still had her Academy Award that she earned in 1961. Who was she?

Accepted Answer

Rita Moreno

Question 4

Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty) was a complete joyride to see on "The Golden Girls" and, yes, even got to have a love life at the young old age of 80. She married once on the show; her husband was played by an actor who had been Oscar-nominated some years earlier in 1973. Who swept Sophia off her little Italian feet?

Accepted Answer

Jack Gilford

Question 5

In a 1987 story there were some criminals moved in across the street and the police set up surveillance at the "Girls"' house. There was an older cop (who Dorothy developed the hots for in a hurry) and a younger one (who Blanche took a shine to just as fast - but not in the way you might be thinking). The junior law enforcer went on to several Oscar nominations and a popular win. Who played the policeman who got shot in the butt as that episode unfolded?

Accepted Answer

George Clooney
